The School of Film and Animation (SoFA) at RIT employed me during my MFA degree program as a Graduate Research Assistant of which some of my responsibilities included authoring the official SoFA Honor Show DVD & Blu-Rays. The annual production of 1,000 DVD & Blu-Ray Discs show off selected student works from the Undergrad to Graduate level of all years, spanning many genres of talented filmmaker’s productions. I put together all the content: the motion graphics, sound editing and print materials. The images shown span three years of authoring.
As it’s difficult to show off an interactive menu system within a linear medium, the video gives a straight forward understanding of functionality. All menus have a point of repetition over a span of 30 seconds, where they repeat if no action is taken. At the end, the animation that plays is what occurs when you select “Play All”. Menu designs for 2011 and 2012 are similar with different colors. 2013′s design changed but the concept remained the same.
Software utilized: Autodesk Maya, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Soundbooth and Adobe Encore.
